Open Days in 2013 - EVENT DAYS 11 am to 4 pm |
On these days the mill will be open and run if weather permits. Refreshments, mill gifts and memorabilia will be available, together with attractions and other activities. |
There is no car parking available near the Mill. A free shuttle bus will be provided (on these dates only) every 20 minutes from The Thatched Inn, Ockley Lane |
Sunday 5th May Oldland Mill, Keymer, will open her doors for her first Event Day this year. The theme will be "May Day Celebrations" and Ditchling Morris and Hammersmith Morris will be dancing. Other attractions include Punch and Judy (two shows), Sussex Wildlife Trust, Face Painting with Emma, Knitted Goods and craft stall, Plumpton College Wine Tasting, and traditional Ice Cream, in addition to the usual guided tours and refreshments. All in the beautiful setting of the South Downs National Park. 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Admission by voluntary donation. No parking at mill. Free shuttle bus from Thatched Inn, Ockley Lane, Keymer, BN6 8DH, or a pleasant walk via Mill Lane, Keymer or Lodge Hill Lane, Ditchling. |

Saturday 1st June We are delighted to announce that Ditchling Morris will be performing at Oldland Mill. A team of traditional French dancers are visiting from Dieppe and will dance with Ditchling Morris at the mill at 2 p.m. This dance group aims to relive the past of the fishing quarter known as Le Pollet, in Dieppe by telling stories through dance about its fishing history and lifestyle. They wear the traditional costume of the fishing community mainly from the 17th century. Ditchling Morris will be dancing too, of course, in traditional bells, sticks and hankies style. Refreshments will be available. Entry by voluntary donation – do come and support us and enjoy the atmosphere created by these wonderful entertainers. |

Saturday 13th July We are delighted to announce that Ditchling Morris will be performing at Oldland Mill. The second date is Saturday 13th July at 11.30 a.m. Ditchling Morris are planning a local dance tour with some other Sussex teams...Knots of May (clog dancers) and Rampant Roosters (who are bells, hankies and sticks). Refreshments will be available. Entry by voluntary donation – do come and support us and enjoy the atmosphere created by these wonderful entertainers. |
